Double Chocolate Crunch Homemade Ice Cream

I love a good homemade ice cream just like this double chocolate crunch version. It’s the perfect treat on a hot summer day! For the 4th of July, I made some for our BBQ. My family loves Oreo and I saw this recipe on Pinching Your Pennies. Not only does it involves Oreos, but the ice cream is chocolate. It was delicious.

I doubled the recipe and it fit in my 4 quart ice cream maker. My husband did think the ice cream was too rich, but I thought it was perfect. The pudding is was actually adds to the richness, but I would never reduce that, because it also gives it the yummy chocolate flavor. However, next time I’m gonna try to use 1 cup cream and 3 cups of half and half. Hopefully, that will reduce the richness for my hubby.

I also like to eat my homemade ice cream straight from the maker. I like the soft serve, milk shake like consistency. We did have a little left over that I put in my freezer. I had some yesterday it it was great that way too. If you want some more great homemade ice cream recipes I also have my other favorites on here: blueberry cheesecake, sweet cream, orange-pineapple, and cream cheese.

  6. I tried this and I decided I don't care for the pudding taste. I like real ice cream instead. It was too rich for me too. I was glad to try it though. Take care.

Oh my goodness! Just made this tonight and it is SOooooo yummy! Thanks so much! I am like your hubby and don't like it too rich/thick so I used 1% milk and half & half and it still turned out creamy and delicious! It reminds me of the jello pudding pops they used to have when I was a kid. Thanks so much!

  8. Oh, that looks sooo good! I made Mocha Almond and Chocolate Heath Bar over the weekend. I like how your recipe uses chocolate pudding. Yum!
