Grilled BBQ Dogs

Why settle for a plain hot dog when you can turn it into a flavor-packed BBQ masterpiece? One night, we were in the mood for something simple—hot dogs—but I couldn’t resist giving them a little upgrade. I brushed each one generously with tangy barbecue sauce as they grilled, then piled on crunchy coleslaw and a few dill pickle slices for that perfect balance of smoky, creamy, and zesty.
The result? A gloriously messy, totally delicious twist on the classic grilled dog. It was a fun, unexpected way to elevate a weeknight dinner—and now I’m convinced BBQ dogs deserve a permanent spot in the summer rotation.

Instructions for Grilled BBQ Hot Dog Recipe
Fire up the grill – Start by preheating your grill to medium-high heat so it’s nice and hot when you’re ready to cook.
Make the slaw topping – While the grill heats up, prepare the coleslaw by combining shredded coleslaw mix with mayonnaise, sugar, a touch of yellow mustard, and a drizzle of honey. Stir until everything is well coated and creamy, then set it aside to chill while the dogs cook.
Grill and baste the hot dogs – Place your hot dogs on the grill and cook them until heated through and slightly charred. During the last few minutes of grilling, brush them generously with barbecue sauce for extra flavor. If you love a little crunch, toss the buns on the grill too—just a minute or two for a lightly toasted finish.
Assemble the dogs – Tuck each hot dog into a bun, then add a little more barbecue sauce if you want it extra saucy. Spoon on a hearty helping of slaw, and finish with a dill pickle spear nestled right alongside.
Serve and enjoy – Get the napkins ready—these BBQ dogs are juicy, messy, and totally irresistible!
