Years ago, my sister in law had us over at her home for a family get together and she served brownie sundaes. The brownie was made from scratch and was absolutely delicious. I had to ask for the recipe. Come to find out I already had the recipe at home in an issue of Quick Cooking (now Simple and Delicious).
This is now my go to recipe for homemade brownies and I especially like to make brownie sundaes with these brownies. For today a made a quick version for Halloween by topping these chewy chocolaty chunks of goodness with mini Reese’s Pieces. That’s the beauty of the brownies you can change them up by whatever you want to put on top whether it be chocolate chips, nuts, etc. I love to top them with chopped toasted pecans and the make a brownie sundae. Come back on Monday when I’ll share with you an easy fudge sauce to top your brownie sundaes with. YUM! Have a great weekend!
- 2 cups sugar
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup baking cocoa
- 1 tsp salt
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup canola oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- whatever topping you want, you'll need around ½ cup to 1 cup (mini Reese's Pieces, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, nuts, etc)
- In a large bowl, beat the first seven ingredients. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan.(I line mine with foil then grease the foil for easy removal from the pan) Sprinkle with desired topping.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.
