Hot Mulled Cider

I have another hot drink recipe for you today, perfect to serve on Christmas morning.  A lot of hot juice recipes I have tried usually include adding sugar.  Not this one and you don’t need it.  This juice is delicious.  I made it over Thanksgiving weekend and everyone loved it.  I adapted this recipe from one at Musselman’s.

Hot Mulled Cider

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 Tbsp whole cloves
  • 1 Tsp whole allspice
  • rind of 1/2 an orange

Pour apple cider into crockpot. Add the cinnamon sticks to the cider. In a square of cheesecloth, place cloves, allspice, and orange rind and tie closed. Cook on high for 2 hours.  Remove cheese cloth and cinnamon sticks.   Ladle cider into mugs.  Makes 16 cups.

For stove top, place in a large pot and heat over medium until the cider  just starts to boil.  Reduce to simmer and cook for 15 minutes to. Stir occasionally.
