Divine Breadsticks

I decided to try this recipe that I found on another food blog. The recipe seemed quick and easy but allowed me to provide homemade breadsticks for my family. I love bread. It is one of weaknesses, especially made from scratch bread. I did alter the recipe slightly. I only made 12 breadsticks, because I like them soft. I also dipped each breadstick in melted butter before placing them on the cookie sheet. Then I sprinkled them all with garlic salt, them sprinkle half with parmesan cheese and the other half with salad supreme. The original recipe called for garlic salt to be sprinkled on the breadsticks. The second time I made these I added a tsp of garlic salt to the butter and I liked how that turned out better than sprinkling. My family really loves the breadsticks with lots of garlic flovor. I also used my kitchen aid and let it knead the dough for 3 min. One tip for the kitchen aid would be, remove the dough of the dough hook before you knead it for the 3 minutes. Thanks to mykitchencafe.blogspot.com. This recipe is going to be added to my tried and true file.

Divine Breadsticks

1 ½ cup warm water
1 tablespoon yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
3 ½ cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
Butter for the pan (I used 6 tblsp. and that seemed to be perfect.)
1 tsp garlic salt
parmesan cheese

Mix first 5 ingredients and knead for three minutes. Let stand 10 minutes. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Melt desired amount of butter and mix in garlic salt . Roll out dough into approximately 9 x 13 rectangle and cut into 12 strips. Roll in butter mixture, twist dough and put on baking sheet. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Cover and let rise 30 minutes. Bake 15-20 minutes at 375 degrees.

I’m 20 years old and i just moved out on my own with my fiance. I looove cooking but I haven’t been able to find a good recipe book to go by. Everythings low fat and low carb. What happened to good ole home cookin?! hahaha. But please keep the recipes coming! We loved the bread sticks.
