Sesame Chicken

Here is my cheater version of Sesame Chicken. I use popcorn chicken to simplify thing. I like to buy my popcorn chicken from Costco. It doesn’t have direction on the package for deep frying, but I do it that way anyway. The product is already fully cooked, so your basically heating it up. The sauce for this is a recipe from Bobby at Blog Chef, my favorite site for oriental recipes. This is a quick and simple way to have sesame chicken at home.

Sesame Chicken

1 1/2 to 2 pounds of frozen popcorn chicken
6 tablespoons honey
4 tablespoons sugar
Salt (to taste)
4 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoon white distilled vinegar
a sprinkle of ground black pepper
diced green onion, optional
sesame seeds, optional

Deep fry your popcorn chicken and drain on a plate lined with a paper towel. In a wok or sauce pan, combine the remaining ingredients and warm over medium heat. Bring to a boil while stirring and simmer until sauce slightly thickens. In the wok or in a serving dish coat chicken with the sauce. Serve over cooked rice and garnish with diced green and sesame seeds.

I was made this sesame chicken for dinner tonight, and it was delicious! I was a little nervous it wouldn't have enough depth of flavor, but it turned out scrumptious. even my hubby was loved eating this…as long as he can use his fingers. thank you for shearing your post.

    Thanks

I’m back to say that I made this recipe tonight. The chicken turned out great in this recipe, although I baked mine in the oven. I didn’t want to do the whole oil/fry thing. The sauce tasted good but was too sweet for us. I may have to look for a different sauce with less sugar in it. Overall this recipe was fast to prepare, and tasted good. Thanks for the suggestion to use the popcorn chicken! So much EASIER!
