Black forest cake is one of those desserts that I tend to see the most around Christmastime. So why not make it into a waffle for this holiday season!
It looks elaborate but is so simple to make. It all begins with a chocolate waffle and then the toppings is where the magic happens. However, you don’t have to do a thing to make them. The waffles get drizzled with chocolate syrup followed cherry pie filling and whipped cream. You can make your own whipping cream or in this case, I just used the stuff in the can. You don’t have to do a thing for those toppings except buy them.
- 2 cups flour
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 eggs
- ⅓ cup canola oil
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Powdered sugar
- Chocolate syrup
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- Whipped cream
- In large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar and baking powder together.
- Add in eggs, oil, buttermilk and vanilla and stir just until combined.
- Cook in waffle maker according to manufacturers instruction.
- Dust each waffle with powdered sugar and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Then top with cherry pie filling and whipped cream. Number of waffles will depend on waffle maker.
