School is back in session for most kids now, which means it’s time for homework and packing lunches. Figuring out what to pack in those lunch boxes and how to keep kids happy with their lunch choices is one of those challenges all moms experience.
So, I decided to create a fun lunch idea for all of you. It would even work well as an after school snack. Most kids love pizza and I wanted to show you a way for them to have it without using leftovers from the weekend. I came up with the idea to make these easy pizza dippers.
It’s basically pizza on a stick. I used long 4-inch toothpicks to make them on and used the basics of crust, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. However, you could easily add in anything else your kids may enjoy like olives, mushrooms, or green peppers.
For the crust, I used some good ol’ french bread. It is inexpensive and you can find it in a variety of flavors at the store. They have it with seasonings or sesame seeds on top or made with whole grains. You can get whatever you like for your family. I used your regular basic french bread.
Next is the pepperoni, which my kids have always loved! Then you finish with a cube of mozzarella. When I picked up mine from the store, I reached for Cache Valley Cheese.

Now to finish off those pizza dippers, you’ve got to have sauce. I used pizza sauce, but any pasta sauce would work too.
- 10 (4 inch) wooden toothpicks or skewers
- 10 (1 inch) cubes of french bread
- 20 slices of pepperoni
- 4 oz of Cache Valley Mozzarella cut into cubes
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- On each toothpick/skewer thread a cube of french bread followed by 2 pieces of pepperoni, and a cube of mozzarella. Repeat until all skewer/toothpicks are used.
- Serve with pizza sauce for dipping. Makes 2 servings.
