Today’s slow cooker recipe for bacon and corn chowder is a soup that utilizes Progresso’s new Recipe Starter. This recipe specifically uses the roasted garlic flavor. I was excited to try them out when I saw them at the store.
Plus, they happen to be on sale for $1.50 and then I had a 50 cents off coupon. Well worth trying for $1. My oldest son especially loved this one. I can pretty much get the boys in my house to eat about anything if there is bacon involved.

This chowder is the epitome of comfort food. Begin by crisping some diced bacon in a skillet. Then remove the bacon and use that flavorful fat left in the pan to cook some diced onion in until tender. Now it’s time to add everything to the slow cooker. Add in the cooked onion, red pepper. potatoes, corn, creamed corn, sugar, and the can of roasted garlic soup starter. Stir until combined and cook on low for 6-7 hours until the potatoes are tender.
Once it finishes cooking whisk the flour and water together in a bowl. Mix it into the soup in the slow cooker. Then mix in the cooked bacon and allow the soup to cook for 30 more minutes to thicken.
