Horizon Organic Milk Giveaway

You may have seen Horizon Organic products in the dairy isle, but did you know they have a shelf-stable milk boxes?  Horizon Organic is currently hosting a “Juice Box Replacement Challenge,” which encourages parents like you to trade juice boxes for milk boxes in their child’s lunch box for one week.

By switching out juice drink boxes for milk boxes in school lunches, you can replace ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and artificial preservatives often found in juice for the calcium, protein and vitamin D found in milk, all of which are important for growing kids.  I am actually trying to get more protein into the diet of my youngest daughter and this is a great option for school lunch.

Horizon Organic wants to help out a lucky RMK reader take the challenge.  They are giving away a lunch box and supply you with FREE coupons for shelf-stable Horizon Organic milk boxes to try the swap for a week.  To enter, just leave a comment on this post telling me about a healthy swap out you do with your kids’ lunch.  You have until Wednesday Oct 10 at midnight (MST) to enter.

Here are some great swap out ideas from Horizon Organic and Danielle Omar.

Horizon Organic is also holding a Facebook “Lunch Box of the Week” photo contest  through which fans can upload photos of their creative, healthy lunch box ideas featuring Horizon Organic milk boxes and other nutritious foods in exchange for a coupon for $1 off the purchase of Horizon Organic milk boxes. Parents who upload a photo will also have a chance to win a weekly Horizon Organic prize packs. And, each month, fans will have the opportunity to vote on the weekly winners to select a monthly winner to receive a $1,000 gift card.

You can also check out Horizon Organic “Talking Food” videos featuring “tasty characters” sharing the nutritional benefits of milk boxes over juice boxes.

No kids yet, but I pack my lunches when I go to work and opt for whole grain bread and fresh fruits and vegetables as opposed to other “snack” items. I think the milk for juice swap is great – much more nutrition!

We always do homemade wheat bread for lunches. Horizon Organic is one of the few chocolate milks my kids can have because we don’t buy the one’s with artificial flavors and preservatives in them.

We always have wheat bread only in the house for sandwiches and toast. Quite recently my little boy has been requesting milk over juice. The thing I need to get him off is fruit snacks. He loves and devours real fruits, but does enjoy the fake as well.

I already do some too, like whole wheat bread, whole wheat waffles, and I offer them milk more than juice.

I’m so proud of myself; I already do a couple of the things pictured: wheat bread, real fruit. I do still give them juice, but it’s 100% fruit juice. Milk would be way better, though.

I recently discovered peanut butter with 30% less sugar. And no, it doesn’t have anything else added to make up for the sweetness. It simply has less sugar.
