If you have ever been to a Sizzler Restaurant, you know what I’m talking about when I say cheese toast. I truly love to go there for the cheese toast. It is a family favorite when we go there. I recently saw this recipe on Norah’s Menus and Recipes. I thought it would be wonderful if I could make it myself at home. The recipe calls for quite a lot of garlic. I went all out and did the full amount because my husband always says you can’t have too much garlic. Well, when he had this, he said wow this is strong, maybe less garlic next time. So next time I’ll probably use 2 tsp. Also, with my first batch(I doubled the recipe) I did have a problem with the cheese stick to the pan and not staying on the bread. I am wondering if my pan wasn’t hot enough. On my second batch, I mixed the cheese and butter together and then put it on the bread. I did not have that problem with the cheese sticking to the pan that time. I am so glad I’ll be able to have Sizzler’s cheese toast anytime I want it now.
6 slices Texas Toast bread
1/2 stick butter, softened at room temperature
1 tablespoon garlic powder (use less if you don’t like the garlic flavor, I’m using 2 tsp from now on)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Mix butter, salt, and garlic powder together. Preheat a griddle. Spread butter mixture on bread and sprinkle with cheese(or mix the cheese in with the butter and spread on the toast). Place buttered/cheese side down on the griddle and cook until brown. Remove and serve.
