Hawaiian Haystacks is one of my go to meals in a pinch and it is a family favorite. They are one of my daughters most requested meals. So it was time for this recipe to get a face-lift. This recipe is included in my cookbook if you have a copy or you can click on the link below for the recipe.
The recipe includes two ways to make the sauce, on the stove top or in the crock pot. The stove top method is excellent to use, especially if you have left over chicken that is begging to be turned into something. The stove top method is the one I use the most and I usually don’t even add chicken (my daughters preference). Or you can always add some rotisserie chicken to make life easy.
The crock pot version is the best if you want to use raw chicken. So easy to do and it will be waiting for you just in time for dinner. Plus, if you like to have this recipe as part of your normal meal rotation, make up a big batch of rice at one time, then portion it out into freezer bags. Then you will have rice already for even easier meal prep.
Also, remember if you are opposed to canned condensed cream soups, I do have a from scratch recipe that is also yummy and fairly easy to make. However you make hawaiian haystacks, your family will love them.
