I got the idea for this recipe from a recipe that a friend gave me. It turned out to be a quick and easy dish that the family loves. I use this as a main dish served over rice, but you can also use it as an appetizer. If you use it as an appetizer, I would reduce the ketchup and grape jelly to 1/2 cup each.
Quick Sweet and Sour Meatballs
3/4 cup ketchup
3/4 cup grape jelly
1 (16 oz.) pkg of precooked frozen meatballs, thawed (make sure they are original and not Italian)
In a skillet, combine ketchup and grape jelly. Heat over medium heat stirring frequently until grape jelly is dissolved. Add meatballs and stir to coat. Continue stirring until meatballs are heated through. Serve over cooked rice.
Next time you try this try substituting chili sauce for the ketchup. Oh, yum!!
I would think this would be too sweet and not tangy enough, does it turn out tangy at all? I have a sweet and sour meatball recipe that I use that has vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup and some other things in it that is really good, but this on looks so easy it would be nice to have another recipe on hand to use. But I would just be worried it wouldn’t have enough of the “sour” in it.
They are super yummy. we serve them at weddings and everyone goes nuts over them!
